2020 Pittnauer Pitti Zweigelt

A pure, fresh expression of dark fruit, an Austrian "Beaujolais." As delicate as the little bird on the label.

Gerhard Pittnauer tends 15 hectares alongside his wife Brigitte to create "living wines." All work is done manually from composting to pruning. 

Gerhard and Brigitte are students presenting the current findings with excited experimental energy. So far, it is delicious research.

The ‘Pitti’ is a blend coming from 18-year-old vines planted to sandy clay mixed with limestone. The Zweigelt is hand-harvested in mid-September while the Blaufrankisch is done in early October. Each grape is fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts. Unfined and lightly filtered before bottling.
