This cellar worthy red is an import selection from local MS Nick Jackson. This is the flagship wine from an up and coming estate whose wines are made by one of the region’s top winemaking consultants, Gian Luca Colombo. A mere 1,100 bottles were produced. The Perno vineyard has long been celebrated as one of the Barolo’s finest, and the 2017 Riserva is testimony to why: an explosive nose of cordite and red fruits leads into a palate of immense richness, framed by imperceptible, sandy tannins. The finish shows huge complexity and length. 2017 was a hot year, but there is no evidence of heaviness or excess here. This is a magnificent wine by any standard.
