Juliaan and Nadine Haart are cult Riesling superstars. But they also like pizza and Corona Lite. We are all walking contradictions…refreshing isn't it?
Their high end bottlings are fiercely collected and hoarded. Their origins kept secret like a seasoned mushroom hunter would protect their patch. During our Spring visit to the vineyard, the Haart's were kind enough to uncork some of their coveted wines which were of course pitch perfect. Nevertheless, nearly unattainable for me and many of you.
It was their 2023 1000L Riesling which truly struck a chord with me, and the Haart's. For starters, we can get some, you can enjoy it on a Monday night, and it's made with the same care and attention as their fancy bottlings.
As the Haart's explained, after a long day toiling in their vineyards or tending to their little ones demands, it isn't their grand wines they reach for, but rather the more useful one, the 1000L. It's bright, pixilated, firm, and garden fresh. Enjoy it in a reclined position, sitting beachside, or on the couch binging your favorite flick.
