2023 Lauer Riesling Grand Cru Unterstenberg No. 12

“Unterstenberg” can be translated, roughly, as “under the mountain” –  the “unter” being “under,” the “berg” translating to “mountain.”  

This is the most mineral ladle of his wines and the driest it’s been. This wine used to be more Feinherb in style but in each successive vintage since 2012 it’s become drier.
