Alexander & Maria Koppitsch and family are an exercise in humanity. Known by locals as salt of the earth, joy of the lake. Rét translates from Hungarian as grassland or field, since the land where these grapes grow used to be a pasture for feeding the livestock of the village.
“We want to make wines that bring you this kind of easy feeling of joy,” Maria nods, “that you can open anytime and they’ll always put a smile on your face.” From the labels to the glass, this is very accomplished in our opinion.
Rét is filled with juicy, spicy red fruits, think of a cross of new world Pinot noir and red Zinfandel. With a little chill it’s perfectly joyful.
