In the early 1990’s there was only 1 producer in Umbria making real wines, Giampiero Bea of Paolo Bea. Angelo Fongoli followed suit and began converting his family’s 4th generation estate over to Organics and Biodynamics starting in 2010, now certified in both.
“Rossofongoli” is a focus on the fruit and terroir, 60% Sangiovese, 40% Montepulciano from 40 year old vines, native yeast and aged in Stainless for 3 months. We always hear, “I went to Italy and the table wine was so good!”, this is that wine, simple enough to chill and quaff with all your meals and just enough expression of the blue/black/purple fruit and smoky minerality of the region. A perfect hot weather red!
