2020 Stein Spatburgunder "Waechter"

This is, in most years, Stein’s top Spätburgunder bottling (only rarely does Stein bottle a “Reserve”), named after the famous artist who did the label, F.K. Waechter. This is a deep and textural Mosel Pinot Noir, almost lavish.

During a recent visit to Germany, we hung out with Ulli a lot — despite his age and Parkinson's diagnosis, his tolerance for work and entertainment are strong. While we were there, you could find him every night holding court for three to four hours telling stories, laughing, pulling bottles from the cellar, and sharing decades of knowledge.

Stein believes his 2020 Pinots are among the best he has ever made.
