Haut Segottes is a rarity in Bordeaux these days as smaller, family run estates are finding it harder to stay afloat. Many of them don't have kids who want to toil in the vineyards, so under duress they sell to large international banks and insurance companies etc. After the departure of the OG family, the soul feels somewhat lost in the wine.
Thankfully there are still intrepid growers and importers keeping the culture of indie Bordeaux alive.
This wine from a warm vintage is dark, juicy, and tannic. Needs air and a fatty piece of red meat cooked over fire. Primal needs.
