Lukas Hammelmann is on FIRE. His nano winery in the Pfalz is putting out some of the most exciting , complex and electric wines. He has a deft touch with Riesling and probably most know for these wines but for us, this Pinot is absolutely on par with any Grand Cru Burgundy.
In out experience the wine does need some to to flesh out as upon opening the oak can seem rather pointed. But with some air and a decent decant what shines is a rich, velvety iterations of Pinot. Dark fruited, autumnal spices, smooth texture. Fried pork chops with sage and this wine may make you weep. We are also somewhat over emotional when it comes to food and wine so we make no promises.
