Fenocchio is cult, well in our house at least. A producer that flies way--way under the radar of many Piedmont wine drinkers in the U.S.
One of Fenocchio's "Grand Cru" Barolo's from a very solid vintage. We recently tasted this wine with Weston, owner of The Piedmont Guy, who imports the wine to the U.S.
We tasted the whole lineup of Fenocchio Cru Barolo and it was a beautiful " terroir" study. Each vineyard having something unique and singular to express but a common thread tying them all together is the graceful purity and elegance of all of Fenocchio's Nebbiolo's. If you like crystalline aromatics and a Burgundian vibe, you are gonna love this!
Castellero is known for a bit sturdier expression of Nebbiolo, but this version has turned down the volume a bit and it's a Barolo that can drink well now. Give it a bit of a decant if you can.
Only 300-ish cases produced each year depending on vintage.
