This sweet honeyed nectar is a classic match for Foie Gras, but we personally love it with a high brow/low brow pairing — fried chicken.

Sauternes is made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes that have been affected by Botrytis cinerea, also known as noble rot, which causes the grapes to become partially raisined, resulting in concentrated and distinctively flavored wines. This makes it one of the worlds lowest yielding styles.

Château Massereau is located in Barsac, in the Bordeaux wine region. The estate has belonged to the Chaigneau family since 2000. Jean-François, who chose to be a winegrower, brought his brother Philippe, from the world of tennis, into his passion. The estate covers 21 hectares, and the duo produces natural wines; little use of copper to preserve microbial life and living soils, vinification without oenological input, and low doses of sulfur.
